Lou Giacalone

With nearly 15 years of experience in engineering and IT leadership, Lou has a proven track record of scaling teams and driving technological innovation. At Roots, Lou leads the engineering department, overseeing a talented team responsible for building cutting-edge AI solutions that power automation across industries.

Previously, Lou was VP of Engineering at Pair, where he successfully grew the engineering team from 3 to 15 members while leading the company through its Series B to Series C rounds. He played a pivotal role in developing an Order Management System (OMS) that leveraged OCR technology, reducing customer experience (CX) order processing times by over 50%. Additionally, Lou architected a Next.js-based headless Shopify site, significantly improving web performance, enabling seamless content management, and facilitating international expansion.

Before his role at Pair, Lou served as Director of Engineering at Casper, where he managed internal tools, IT, and infrastructure teams. During his tenure, Lou played a crucial role in scaling the business from Series B to IPO. He was instrumental in supporting the retail growth from 0 to 70 stores by designing a custom POS system and internal tools that optimized retail and CX operations.
