Roots Automation: A Look Back at 2024

With another transformative year at Roots Automation almost in the books, I want to reflect on our successes and share a glimpse of the exciting journey ahead.

First, we’re thankful for our customers, team members, investors, friends and family. Your dedication and sincere belief in what we’re building together are what drive us to be great.  

The future is incredibly bright, and I’m thrilled to continue this journey with all of you.

Establishing Deeper Roots: We’re Proud of What We’ve Achieved in 2024

Corporate Expansion:

• Roots secured $22 million in Series B funding to accelerate growth and build upon our market-leading made-for-insurance AI to harness and unlock the value of unstructured data across their organization.
• We more than doubled the size of our team and are headed into 2025 with a global community of “Rootonians” 110 strong!

Major Customer Wins: 

• In 2024, we more than doubled recurring revenue and added new customer relationships with several enterprise-scale insurance organizations across the US.
• Roots also expanded relationships with our existing customers – it’s an honor to work alongside some remarkable teams!

Product and R&D

• Roots customers have collectively processed over 250 million unique non-public insurance documents.
• We’ve continued our work with Guidewire to build out the Roots/ClaimCenter integration—you can watch a demo here.  
• 2024 also saw the publication of a new AI research paper, “Page Stream Segmentation with LLMs: Challenges and Applications in Insurance Document Automation” (pre-print available here), which has been selected for presentation at the COLING 2025 conference in Abu Dhabi.

Thought Leadership 

• Roots attended and presented at or was featured in more than 25 conferences and events. We hosted quarterly live AI in Insurance webinars that were seen by more than 5,000 viewers.
• For the second year running, Roots cosponsored the Women’s Leadership Forum at ITC. We opened this event with an introduction by Roots Product Manager Ellen Haas and a highlight reel from our Women in Insurance interview series.  
• Our content teams produced more than 100 publications, including six whitepapers/buyer’s guides, our Responsible, Ethical and Trustworthy AI Principles and more than 35 new blogs and articles.
  
  

Looking ahead to 2025 

Building on 2024’s successes, in 2025, Roots will be taking even bolder steps toward redefining what’s possible in our industry.  

With expanded teams and resources, we’re committed to redoubling our focus on AI accuracy, credibility, and trustworthiness, which are critical stepping stones to more widespread successful AI adoption.  

We’ll be debuting a completely refreshed brand and website that showcases our spirit of innovation and dedication to building best-in-breed solutions to Make Work More Human.
